January Favorites

If I were a YouTube star, my opening monologue would be something about how I’m sorry this post is a little late – but can you believe that January is already over? Anyways here are the top 5 things that I was loving through the month of January! (side swipe transition to next scene)

Haha. I had my first in person grad class yesterday and one of my classmates who I recognized from my online classes said he sort of recognized me when I first walked in, but then recognized me for sure when I started talking because I guess my voice is just that distinct. I was talking to Jeremiah yesterday about how much money YouTube stars make, but I don’t think I could ever make it as a YouTube star. I’m just too awkward in front of the camera… which is odd because I do love performing, but according to Jeremiah, I am not a good actress. So sad.

Anyways, as an attempt to write more posts (#content) here are five things that I appreciated in January. I actually debated getting a passion planner this year, since I kind of like the idea that it forces you to write down things that made you happy each week – similar to my photos of the week, but taking it one step further to really think about things that are bringing you joy.

  • My planner

Although I did not end up getting a passion planner, I really love the one that I did end up getting! Alice gave me one for our secret santa exchange, and although I liked the design of that one, I didn’t like how it was a 16 month calendar and I felt wasteful using that one. So after lots of deliberation on the Anthropologie site, I ended up ordering a different one to get shipped to a store, then ended up picking this one out when I went to go pick that one up. And I’m very happy with this one! It has the perfect amount of space to write daily to-do lists and areas for notes where I can keep track of month goals. And the blush pink and copper rose gold tones are totally on trend right now. Actually, not sure if those colors and accent tones are still in, but I still like them, so whatever.

  • Carrots

Before my mom left for Taiwan she gave me two half bags of carrots, which means that I spent the next few weeks eating a lot of carrots. Good thing I like carrots. They were especially yummy roasted at 400 degrees for 30 minutes, sprinkled with salt and garlic powder.

  • 4 hour parking garages

There are a number of free parking garages in downtown Walnut Creek, but recently I realized that I could park at the movie theater parking lot, which is closer to the coffee shop I generally go to on Tuesdays and Thursdays while Roomba is running (which I am also now mayor of on Swarm, hooray) AND it is four hour parking. How great is that?!

  • Running more (and dancing more)

This is a pro and a con. Pro is that I get to exercise more and be more active, and I should be running more in preparation for my two runs in April. Con is that my calves are very, very sore and I have realized how out of shape I am. Another con is that the more I dance, the more I feel drawn back to that world, but I must resist!

  • Sephora YouTube channel

There are actually a good number of really helpful skincare and makeup tutorials on their channel, and I feel like I’m learning a lot. Especially as I’m trying harder to take better care of my skin and letting myself use nicer products (if they actually work, that is) – Sephora YouTube channel and Reddit have been really good resources!

It was actually harder than I thought it would be to come up with these five things, so I’m trying to write down more things that I like throughout the month of February. Another thing that I like about my planner is that at the start of the month it has a cheesy inspirational saying of the month, and February’s is “Do more of what makes you happy.” I have to figure out what makes me happy first in order to do it, so here’s to learning more and doing more of what makes me happy in February!
