Photo Week #11

One week down, two more to go! After I posted my last post, the directive has changed from social distancing to shelter in place, and in the last week I have left the house three times. I’ve been telling people that since Jeremiah had his ankle surgery back in February, we already had a head start on what SIP felt like because he had already been WFH and we hadn’t really been going anywhere. So it hasn’t been too huge of an adjustment, but it’s still been a mental adjustment to resist hopping into my car and driving downtown to Target.

It’s funny, though, because I feel like I have stayed in touch with my friends more than normal during this time. Maybe because normally I would think, I’ll just tell them things when I see them in person, but now the reality is I may not see my friends in person for the next two months. Who knows if SIP will actually end on April 7? So there’s been a lot more texting, video chatting (I still have not made any phone calls. I am not a completely changed person) and it makes me happy that we are all in this together. We’re physically in isolation, but that doesn’t mean we have to live in isolation!

I’ve also been exercising more (at least 30 minutes a day) because classes are being offered online for free and I am cheap and now I can take yoga classes from Corepower Yoga and Classpass! Woohoo! I also try and at least go outside every day for a little bit (to catch Pokemon) – but don’t worry, if I see someone coming I cross to the other side of the street. I worry sometimes that people judge me when they seem because I am Asian, but thankfully I haven’t (personally) experienced any racism yet.

And despite all of this, spring is coming! The weather is slowly getting nicer and trees are flowering and sprouting buds. A nice reminder that the Earth (and its humans!) will still fight to live no matter what happens.
